It is well known fact that several shrimp consignments from india were rejected in the International market recently due to antibiotic residues in the cultured shrimp. Hence govt. has banned the usage of majority of antibiotics in aqua culture as the antibiotic residues have carcinogenic effect. Another problem with conventional antibiotics is that they can promote the development of resistant strains of bacteria. In these circumstances it is quite necessary to develop highly safe and protent alternative antibiotics in aqua culture. We succeed in developing HERBOCIN from natural extracts which is highly safe and potent drug for controlling bacterial infections. HERBOCIN can also be used as preventive therapy to boost up the immune system of fish and prawns.
